Prepare the Way for the Lord

The Preaching of St. John the Baptist by Pieter Bruegel the Elder, 1566

In this trilogy, we meet John the Baptist, King Herod Antipas, and Jesus.

John the Baptist: Prepare the Way for the Lord
John the Baptist lived in the Judean wilderness until he began preaching. His message was, “Repent of your sins and turn to God, for the Kingdom of Heaven is near.”

Herod Antipas: This Must Be John the Baptist
King Herod Antipas, son of Herod the Great and Malthace, was born c. 20 BC. He was the younger brother of Archelaus. When he heard about Jesus, he said to his advisers, “This must be John the Baptist raised from the dead!”

---

Jesus: For a Child is Born to Us
Jesus (c. 6 BC to 33 AD), the son of Mary and Joseph, was born in Bethlehem, grew up on Nazareth, began his ministry in Galilee, and died in Jerusalem. His genealogy is traced back to Seth, who was the son of Adam... and Adam who was the son of God.
