Captain’s log, stardate 99464.09
Good morning. Hope your week was good. As mentioned, beYOUteous is my eCommerce store offering a line of handcrafted beaded jewelry which aims to spread the message for embracing individuality, feminine strength, and empowerment.
We’re closing out the second week of November and, again, I don’t have much to share. Bill Gates expressed his thoughts re: climate change at COP26. You can read about it in “Why scaling innovation is key to stopping climate change.”
If you missed last Friday’s post, you can find it at “Captain’s log, stardate 99444.82”

As far as world news:
- F.W. de Klerk, South Africa’s last president of the apartheid era, has died after battling mesothelioma cancer at the age of 85. Opinions on de Klerk’s legacy are divided in South Africa. Many also blame him for violence against Black South Africans and anti-apartheid activists during his presidency.
- Ongoing drought in parts of Kenya is endangering the livelihoods of millions of people who rely on livestock.
- Overstone Kondowe has made history after being elected as Malawi’s first member of parliament with albinism, the hereditary lack of pigmentation in the skin, hair and eyes. The statistics show that since 2014, more than 170 albinos have been attacked in Malawi because of false beliefs that concoctions mixed with their body parts bring luck and wealth.
Listening to “Lincoln” by David Herbert and “Benjamin Franklin: An American Life” by Walter Isaacson. That’s it for this week, until next time. Feel free to head over for last week’s LinkedIn post “Ctesibius (Ktesibios) of Alexandria: Inventor of the Hydraulis.”
